Sun comes out for Easley Parade

December 7, 2013

EASLEY — The sun came out just in time this morning as hundreds gathered on Easley’s Main Street for the annual Christmas parade.

The parade followed a drizzly night Friday when approximately 75 turned out for the Grand Illumination of the Christmas tree at Easley City Hall.

The group of close to 100 entries, including two bands, dance schools, Cub Scout troops along with Easley’s firefighter and police officer of the year formed in the parking lot of Easley’s First Baptist Church. It proceeded to Main Street along Bradley and wet to Robinsons Funeral Home where the procession turned toward the Easley Presbyterian Church. It mad a final turn at Easley’s First United Methodist Church.

Young and old shared smiles along the route. Grandmas used Smartphones to capture the event on video.

Grand Marshall Julie Capaldi, president of the United Way of Pickens County, rod in a white carriage toward the front of the parade.

Other parades were scheduled in Central and Six Mile today. Liberty and Pendleton have parades at 3 p.m. Sunday.
