EASLEY – Two men suspected of robbing the TD Bank in Easley last month have been arrested in New Bern, NC.
According to Maj. Tim Tollison of the Easley Police Department, David McArthur King, 23, and Thomas Cuthbertson Jr., 23, were arrested in North Carolina earlier this month after fleeing from authorities.
“King held the teller at gunpoint in the TD Bank robbery and we believe Cuthbertson assisted him in the robbery perhaps by driving the getaway car,” Tollison said. “We got word on Friday morning Dec. 13, the FBI, along with the State Bureau of Investigations in North Carolina, apprehended our suspects after they ran from them in a vehicle.”
Tollison said the men are being held in New Bern.
“I believe King is a suspect in several shootings and an armed robbery that happened in North Carolina,” he said. “As of right now, we are waiting to hear when we will get the suspects back here in Easley. Since they are up there on other charges, it may be some time.”
According to Tollison, it is possible for the FBI to take over the investigation.
“We are wondering if the FBI will just take over the investigation because they have another bank robbery in another state,” Tollison said. “We are not exactly sure who is going to be charging them on our bank robbery. Because the FBI has jurisdiction over all bank robberies, they could take over the cases.”
Both King and Cuthbertson are residents of New Bern.
