Program on forestry law changes is Jan. 28

WALHALLA — Updates in Forestry — Forest Certification and Forestry Tax Law changes will be presented from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Oconee County Agricultural Building, 301 W. South Broad St. in Walhalla. The program is free.

Dr. Walt McPhail, 2012 National Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year, will discuss major changes in the South Carolina Tree Farm Program, forest certification and benefits of the American Tree Farm program for forest landowners.

Dr. Tamara Cushing from Clemson University will discuss basic forestry income and estate taxes as well as the latest changes in forestry tax laws.
