ANDERSON — The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has charged 24-year-old Joshua Logan Hoover of Piedmont with attempted murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
The victim was on his way to work Feb. 7 on S.C. 29 North toward I-85, when a silver Toyota Tacoma truck drove up behind him at a high rate of speed. The driver said he moved over to the right lane to allow the truck to pass.
However, a short time later, as both vehicles merged onto I-85, the Toyota pulled around the victim in the right-hand lane. At that time, the driver — later identified as Joshua Hoover — made an obscene gesture at the driver of the other vehicle then fired one shot through the passenger side door.
The bullet lodged in the vehicle’s center console. The driver was not hurt.
Hoover turned himself into the Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 24. Bond was set at $50,000.
