PICKENS — Pickens County is gearing up to celebrate Independence Day 2014 and the cities of Easley and Pickens have two days of entertainment lined up.
With the Fourth of July falling on Friday this year, residents have the opportunity to celebrate American Independence over an entire weekend filled with music, rides and fireworks for community members to enjoy right in their own backyard instead of traveling to nearby Greenville or Anderson.
Easley will hold events from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. July 4 and July 5 each day in Old Market Square in downtown. Carnival rides (special ticket purchase prices available) will be on hand for kids, or just those who are kids at heart, food vendors, and music.
On July 4, Easley will host The Flashbacks in the amphitheater from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a fireworks display scheduled to begin at 9:45 p.m. There is no admission for either event. The city will also be hosting music July 5 when Deja Nue takes the stage at 7 p.m.
Pickens will host two days of events, celebrating the 4th Friday beginning at 3 p.m. and ending at 10 p.m. The Katlin Owen Band & Friends will take the Pickens Amphitheater stage at 7 p.m. and a fireworks display will also take place that evening. Carnival rides with special bundle pricing will be available.
On Saturday, Pickens will host its third Cruise-In and Music on Main of the summer with food and entertainment available for the community as well.
There will plenty of vendors at both celebrations with food, fun, and community presented at no charge.
