Baseball/softball registration

PICKENS — Baseball and softball registration will be taken through Feb. 28 at the Pickens Recreation Center on Sangamo Road in Pickens. Following registration, a skills/evaluation day will be held for each age division.

The registration fee is $45 for in-city residents and $55 for out-of-city residents. The fee provides a jersey and cap for each player.

For Tee Ball, Pitching Machine and Baseball, the league age is the age attained by the participant prior to May 1, 2014. The birth date for girls softball is their age as of Dec. 31, 2013. Birth certificates are required at registration.

The age divisions being offered include the following Instructional (co-ed) for age 4; Tee Ball/Coaches Pitch (co-ed) for ages 5 and 6; and Pitching Machine (co-ed) for ages 7 and 8.

Boys Baseball will have Minors (ages 9 and 10), Youth (ages 11 and 12), Boys (ages 13 and 14) and Majors (ages 15 to 18).

Girls Softball will have Darlings (ages 7 and 8), Angels (ages 9 and 10), Ponytails (ages 11 and 12) and Belles (ages 13 to 15).

Volleyball, flag football evaluations

EASLEY — Volleyball evaluations are held at 6 p.m. on Court A for students in grades two through four and at 7 p.m. on Court B for students in grades five through seven.

Flag football evaluations are held March 1 at 10 a.m. on Field A for those under age 14, at 10 a.m. on Field B for those under age 12, 11 a.m. on Field A for those under age 10 and 11 a.m. on Field B for those under age 8.

All assistant coaches will be selected after the draft. Anyone who wants to coach must fill out an application and consent to a background check.
