• The Liberty Touchdown Club hosts a Flapjack Fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Applebee’s, 5055 Calhoun Memorial Highway in Easley. All proceeds raised will be used throughout the year to help buy equipment and provide support for Liberty Football and its athletes. Tickets are $7 and can be bought at the door or by calling 864-608-2207.


• A Back to School WaterBlast is held from noon to 4 p.m. at the Amphitheater on Old Market Square in Easley. The event is sponsored by the Gilstrap Family Dealerships.

• The Women’s Club of Easley meets at 3:15 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Easley First United Methodist Church. Ann Istare, outpatient therapist for the Pickens County Mental Health Center, and her co-worker Joyce Raines will present the program.

Walter Carter Tucker is at Main Street Deli & Coffeehouse, 133 W. Main St. in Central, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tucker will sign copies of his book, Men Who Fought … Boys Who Prayed.

• The third annual Founders Day Music Festival is held on West Main Street in Pickens from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Sept. 20


• The annual Beach Sweep/River Sweep is held from 9 a.m. to noon on the Pinnacle Lake shoreline of Table Rock State Park. This is South Carolina’s largest one-day litter cleanup of beaches and waterways. All necessary supplies are provided. • The inaugural Clusters for Kids Oyster Roast to benefit Friends of Pickens County Guardian Ad Litem is held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Arran Farm, 820 Lenhardt Road in Easley. Sen. Larry Martin is chairman of the event. Tickets are $50 per person and $90 per couple. A limited number of tickets will be available for $75 each at the door. • The Easley Rotary Club meets from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. each Tuesday at West End Hall in the Carr Center, 201 S. 5th St. in Easley.

2014 Celebrate Anderson Weekend is held Aug. 30 and Aug. 31 at the Civic Center of Anderson and will feature family cycling opportunities, pro-cycling races and a free outdoor concert featuring Adkins & Loudermilk and Daryl Worley. A fireworks finale will be held at 9:30 p.m.

Oconee County


The 1oth annual S.C. Apple Festival Car Show is held Sept. 6 on East Main Street in Wesminster. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon. Motorcycles, antique tractors and four-wheel drive vehicles are welcome. The cost to register is $15 and the vendor fee is $15. Prizes will be awarded.
