• A Fourth of July Celebration is held from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Pickens Amphitheater, 114 W. Main St. in Pickens. The Katlin Owen Band will perform. Food vendors will be on site and carnival rides will be available. Fireworks will bring the night to a close. Vehicle registration begins at 5:30 p.m.


Ongoing events


Easley Newcomers & Friends meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Capt. Kimberly Hampton Public Library, 304 Biltmore Road in Easley. The social is at 10 a.m. and the meeting is at 10:30 a.m. Guests are welcome. Call Gloria Kouvolo at 864-843-1403 for more information.

Outside Pickens County


The Anderson County Democratic Party meets at 9 a.m. July 5 at party headquarters, 115 N. Main St. Juice and coffee will be provided. Committees organized earlier will continue to work on plans for the fall campaign. All persons interested in working on the campaign are encouraged to attend.


The Anderson County Democratic Party holds its ninth annual barbecue and rally at 5 p.m. July 12 at the Anderson Arts Center, 110 Federal St. in Anderson. The 3rd Congressional District Caucus meets at 4 p.m. Vincent Sheheen, candidate for governor, is expected to attend as are other statewide and local candidates.


The S.C. Upstate Paralegal Association and Legal Staff Professionals of Greenville host Greenville’s Inaugural Professional Soldier Soiree from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. July 19 at the Poinsett Club on East Washinton Street in Greenville. Tickets are $75 per person.
