CLEMSON — A 55-year-old Clemson man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of another Clemson man on Aug. 6.
Clemson police said Mark Burnside shot James Cherry, 52, of 115 Lincoln Drive in Clemson, multiple times following an argument over money Burnside owed Cherry.
According to police reports, the Clemson City Police received a call around 5:40 p.m. Aug. 20 that someone had been shot at a home on Summey Street. When they arrived, Cherry was lying outside the home and Burnside was inside the home.
EMS personnel transported Cherry to Oconee Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said Cherry was outside the home when Burnside came out of the residence and fired at Cherry several times.
