ANDERSON — The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Damascus Laquavis Moore-Floyd, 17, of Anderson in connection with a recent shooting at Newport Commons.
Moore-Floyd, along with another black male, robbed Lashaun Blanding in the parking lot of Newport Commons, 700 Simpson Road in Anderson, on April 21.
According to the incident report, Blanding and a friend were approached from behind by two black male subjects who demanded money and Blanding’s necklace. Blanding said he took off running and was chased and shot in the back by one of the subjects.
Per arrest warrants, Damascus Laquavis Moore-Floyd was the shooter. He has been charged with armed robbery, attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Moore-Floyd is currently being held at the Anderson County Detention Center on $110,000 bond. The second suspect has not yet been identified or located.
