PICKENS — Pickens High School is coming off a stellar year on the volleyball court and senior Brianna O’Shields is seeing the result of all that hard work.

O’Shields, who played middle and outside hitter for the Lady Blue Flames, signed a National Letter of Intent with Erskine College on April 22, and is hoping to elevate her game.

How will her success at the prep level help with college volleyball?

“I think it’s definitely prepared me for college, and I’m ready to get competitive at the college level,” she said. “I worked out with the team and it’s a different game in college. They are in great shape, I was winded pretty quick, but it’s going to be a challenge.”

How did O’Shields decide Erskine and Due West were the right choice?

“I like the environment there, it’s not too big or too small,” O’Shields said. “I visited the campus and the coach and team made me feel welcome and like I was at home there. And they have a great biology department, and that was important to me.”
