PICKENS – Wendy’s in Pickens celebrated Red Cross Month by donating 50 cents from the sale of their Frosty products on Fridays during the month of March.
In total, Wendy’s of Pickens sold 468 Frosty products on Fridays in March and they presented the Red Cross with a check in the amount of $234.
“We appreciate the folks at Wendy’s in Pickens and its franchisee First Sun Management Group for acknowledging our Red Cross volunteers during Red Cross Month. They are everyday heroes who come to the aid of neighbors in need. Wendy’s financial support of our local disaster services is a great example of a business giving back to the community,” said Sarah Dow, Chief Development Officer with Red Cross of the Western Carolinas.
Red Cross of the Western Carolinas has served 19 percent more individuals affected by disaster during the first nine months of Fiscal Year 2014 than during all of Fiscal Year 2013.
The local Red Cross is in urgent need of donations to compensate for this significant increase in disaster support expense. For information on how to donate, call the Red Cross of Pickens County at (864) 878-0131 or go to www.RedCross.org.
