SIMPSONVILLE — Guitarist Steve Kaufman and banjoist Gary Davis will present all-level flatpicking guitar and all-level banjo workshops on March 1 at the Simpsonville Art Center, 110 Academy St.

Kaufman is the three-time winner of the National Flatpicking Championships and Davis is a four-time National Banjo Champion.

The workshops will be separate three-hour sessions from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. March 1 and will cover core picking skills and techniques, repertoire and building blocks for growth. Kaufman and Davis will also cover right and left hand technique, drills and skills, and many other valuable aspects of flatpicking guitar and bluegrass banjo.

Small groups and some individual attention make this workshop valuable for flatpicking guitarists at all levels of experience.

The fee for either all-level workshops is $50 per person. Pre-registration is required. Seating is limited.

An evening concert will be held at 8 p.m. March 1 at the Simpsonville Art Center. It is sponsored by Wade Shealy and the Simpsonville Arts Foundation. For tickets or information, contact Shealy at wshealy@safiarts.org, call 864-430-1003 or go to www.safiarts.org. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
