The National Society United States Daughters of 1812 (N.S.U.S.D. of 1812) marked the grave of General Andrew Pickens for his service rendered during the War of 1812, including his involvement at the Battle of New Orleans.


This marking followed a special worship service at Old Stone Church which was part of the Historical Families Reunion hosted by Clemson University’s Historic Properties. Spencer Whitehurst, the son of Pickens County Councilman Trey Whitehurst, participated at the marking ceremony because he is the Society President of the National Society Children of the American Revolution which is named for General Andrew Pickens.


Present were President of the Skyagunsta Society National Society Children of the American Revolution (N.S.C.A.R.) Spencer Whitehurst, Regent of the Andrew Pickens Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (N.S.D.A.R.) Mari Noorai, Registrar of the Andrew Pickens Chapter N.S.D.A.R. Marion Whitehurst, SC State Second Vice President N.S.U.S.D. of 1812 Doris Sandberg, SC Past State President N.S.U.S.D. of 1812 Henrietta Morton.
