ANDERSON — Palmetto Moonshine, the small town spirit produced in South Carolina, won Best in Show for White Spirit, a category thatincludes vodka, rum, tequila and gin, at the New York World Wine and Spirits.
Competition with their White Lightning Corn Whiskey. Their Apple Pie flavor won Double Gold; Blackberry won Gold and Peach won Silver.
The New York World Wine and Spirits Competition boasts well-known judges in the wine and spirits industry, including, Anthony Dias Blue, founder of the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. More than 75 brands were judged and three category winners received Best in Show. All four of Palmetto Moonshine’s flavors were awarded medals in the competition.
Palmetto Moonshine is South Carolina’s first legal moonshine. They were licensed in one state, South Carolina, in January 2011 and are currently licensed in 22 states. The company is family owned and operated by brothers, Trey and Bryan Boggs.
