PENDLETON — Costumed tour guide Ellen Harrison will give a two-hour walking tour on April 11 and April 12 through the historic town of Pendleton.

Early architectural practices evident in houses built between 1793 and 1860 will be discussed as well as the lives of the people who lived in them. Diaries and letters of early Pendletonians will be used to talk about the personalities and accomplishments of these early settlers.

The tour begins at 10 a.m. inside historic Hunter’s Store, is held rain or shine, and the cost is $5. Space is limited so participants are encouraged to make reservations by calling the Pendleton District Commission at 864-646-3782.

Other spring walking tours will be held on May 9 and May 10, June 13 and June 14, and July 11 and July 12. All tours begin at 10 a.m. and all begin at Hunter’s Store with the exception of the July tours, which meet at the Old Stone Church.

The walking tours are sponsored by the Pendleton District Commission, tourism and archive center for Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties. The Commission is located at 125 Queen Street, Pendleton, inside historic Hunter’s Store. Call 864-646-3782 or visit pendletondistrictevents.webs.com for information.
