Bob Jones University

GREENVILLE — William Christmas of Easley, Naomi Mann of Easley, Scarlett Von Schmittou of Easley and Lacetta Smith of Piedmont participated in the first session of summer orientation June 20-21 at Bob Jones University. Incoming students and their parents became familiar with the campus and attended informational sessions about the BJU experience including academics, financial aid and student life.

Students were also able to receive academic and career counsel from faculty and register for their fall classes. Classes begin Sept. 3.

Christmas will be majoring in Communication, Mann will be majoring in Criminal Justice, Smith will be majoring in Christian Ministries and Von Schmittou will be majoring in Elementary Education.

Bob Jones University

GREENVILLE – Luke Hall of Easley has been named to serve as a member of the First-Year Experience Student Advisory Committee at Bob Jones University. Hall, a freshman, serves with fellow members of the committee to provide guidance in the areas of freshman seminar, orientation, advising first year students and student life issues facing first year students.

Brevard College

BREVARD, N.C. – Michael Holder of Liberty and Chezney McJunkin of Easley graduated from Brevard College during its 161st commencement ceremony held May 3, 2014.

Coastal Carolina University

CONWAY – Jonathan P. Anderson of Sunset and Kaitlyn L. Benson of Piedmont were named to the President’s List at Coastal Carolina University. To qualify for the President’s List, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average and must be enrolled full time. Anderson is a senior majoring in exercise and sport science and Benson is a freshman majoring in biology and psychology.

Davis & Elkins College

ELKINS, W.Va. — Aliyah Dukes has been named to the Dean’s List for the 2014 spring semester at Davis & Elkins College. Students on the list must achieve a 3.6 GPA on a scale of 4.0 while taking a minimum of 12 semester hours.

She is the daughter of Anna Dukes of Clemson and Dirk Logan of Gaffney.

Eastern Kentucky University

RICHMOND, Ky. – Timothy S. Fowler of Pendleton, S.C., was named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2014 semester at Eastern Kentucky University. He is a senior occupational safety major.

Georgia Tech

ATLANTA, Ga. – Puhan Liu of Central, S.C., earned the distinction of Faculty Honors for the spring 2014 semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology. This designation is given to undergraduate students who have a 4.0 academic average for the semester.

Hampden-Sydney College

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – Will McAbee of Pendleton, S.C., graduated May 12, 2014, from Hampden-Sydney College with a bachelor of arts degree in history. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie H. McAbee Jr. of Pendleton, S.C.

Ithaca College

ITHACA, N.Y. – Kayla Sewell of Liberty, S.C., graduated from Ithaca College’s School of Humanities and Science with a degree in philosophy in May 2014. Sewell was also named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2014 semester.

Lander University

GREENWOOD — Lander University recently announced its President’s List, Dean’s List and Freshman Honors for spring semester 2014. Undergraduates who have earned a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 out of a possible 4.0 are on the President’s List. Those with a GPA of 3.5 to 3.9 are on the Dean’s List, while freshmen with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.49 earn Freshman Honors.

HARROGATE, Tenn. — Chelsea Barnes-Walker of Easley and Jessica Francis of Easley were named to the Dean’s List for the 2014 Spring semester at Lincoln Memorial University. To be placed on the Dean’s List, the student must be a full-time undergraduate and have a 3.5 grade point average for the semester.

Mars Hill University

MARS HILL, N.C. – Grace Kelli Lancaster of Easley, S.C., was among 16 students recognized as university marshals at Mars Hill University for the 2014-15 academic year. The marshals are comprised of the eight students with the highest grade point averages from each of the rising junior and senior classes.

SUNY Oneonta

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Emily Hopkins of Pendleton, S.C., was among the 904 students who graduated from SUNY Oneonta during commencement ceremonies held May 17, 2014.

University of Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Xinru Wang of Easley, S.C., was named to the Dean’s List for the 2014 spring semester at the University of Iowa. Students named to the Dean’s List must have a 3.50 or higher grade point average on 12 hours or more of study in a semester.

University of Massachusetts Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. – Daniel Rosino of Easley, S.C., received a bachelor degree in information technology from the College of Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Lowell during commencement exercises held May 17, 2014.

University of Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. – Lara L. McLellan of Clemson and Malia Tyne Jenks of Easley were among the graduates of the University of Oklahoma during spring commencement exercises. McLellan received a bachelor of arts degree in environmental sustainability and Jenks received a master of science degree.

Washington & Lee

LEXINGTON, Va. – Brandon Howes of Easley, S.C., was named to the Dean’s List for the recently ended 2014 winter term. Students named to the Dean’s List must have a grade point average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.
