Mr. and Mrs. J.Lee Alexander of 12 Dorsey Ave., Greenville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, June 11, at the ome of their son and his wife and their daughter of 19 Hampton Courts, Greenville.
The Alexanders’s granddaughter baked their anniversary cake and her cousin decorated it.
Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Milhous and Mary, Mr. and Mrs. Chales E. Hughes, and Mr and Mrs. Walter Stansell, all sisters of Mrs. Alexander, joined them for a seated dinner which the granddaughter had prepared
The Alexanders were married in Easley on July 11, 1926, by the Rev. B.M. Wynn. Mrs. Alexander is the former Maguerite Hood. Mr. Alexander was general overseer of weaving at Abney Plant Brandon) for 13 years. He retired in 1968, but did not like the retirement, so he is working for Security Guards as Captain at the Texize Plant in Simpsonville. He will be 71 years of age on Nov. 28.
Mr. Alexander is the son of the late Lee Andrew and Ida Bowers Alexander. Mrs. Alexander’s parents were the late J. Butler and Timpy Wood Hood. They had another son, S. Sgt. Joseph Maxwell Alexander, who died in an automobile accident Feb. 2, 1965.
Afterthought: Lee Alexander is the friendly brown-eyed boy who drove old Easley High School’s football team to victory after victory in 1925.
He gave much of his time to the team in 1926, and was in a sense a second coach.
