EASLEY — The School District of Pickens County Board of Trustees has named Darian Byrd as the principal of Forest Acres Elementary School in Easley. Stephanie Price, current principal, is taking over as principal at McKissick Elementary.

Since August 2007 Byrd has been assistant principal at East End Elementary. Before becoming an administrator, he was a band teacher at Liberty Middle School.

“Mr. Byrd is enthusiastic and passionate about children and learning,” said Dr. Henry Hunt, superintendent. “He has developed valuable leadership skills in many areas during his tenure at East End. I look forward to having him on our District Leadership Team.”

Byrd, a graduate of Southern Wesleyan University, received a B.A. in music education. Additionally, he received a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from Clemson University.

“I am extremely excited to join the Forest Acres family,” said Byrd. “Forest Acres is a successful school with many exciting initiatives and enrichment opportunities for the students. I look forward to working with the staff and parents as we further the journey of being a shining star in the district.”

Byrd will take over at Forest Acres on July 1.
