EASLEY—Former Republican Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee declared August 1 Chick-fil-a Appreciation Day, and hundreds of Easley residents joined in to support.

Huckabee created this event after statements from Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy indicating he supports the “biblical definition” of marriage between one man and one woman.

After Chick-fil-A received criticism from Gay Rights’ activists, Huckabee created a group for Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day on Facebook.

“We want to thank residents for their support,” said Kathy Brazinski, Marketing Director of the Easley store. “We hope they continue to support after today. We have such a presense in the community, and the people have been great.”

Some Easley residents who were in line at Chick-fil-a on Wednesday said there were there in support of the event.

“Some people stood outside for an hour to get their lunch,” said Brazinski.
