EASLEY—Trying to earn their first mark in the wins column, the Easley High School girls basketball team fell behind 20-10 in the first quarter against Westside Friday night. By the end of three periods, the Rams led Easley 51-33.
But Easley was not ready to give up. The Green Wave powered back, outscoring Westside 19-6 in the final period, but still lost 57-52.
Eighth-grader Mikaya Smith led Easley with 14 points. Also scoring for the Green Wave were Jessica Craford 8, Beh Parker 7, Matrice Jefferson 6, Wreath Rodrigues 4, Lauren Matthews 4, Amanda Maughan 4, Bethany Hanson 3 and Dashia Anderson 2.
Lea Allen led Westside with 18 points.
Easley travels to Greenwood Tuesday night, then completes its season at home Friday against Wren.
