PICKENS COUNTY – The School District of Pickens County has extended the date for parents to return permission forms for the H1N1 vaccine until Dec. 18. The original date to return the forms was Nov. 20.

The second series of H1N1 vaccinations will be administered from Jan. 11 through Jan. 14. Middle and high school students who have parent permission will be vaccinated by DHEC. They will also return to elementary schools around Pickens County to administer student’s second injection.

Parents of students ages 9 and under who received the first vaccine will be sent permission forms for the second injection on Jan. 4. All forms for the second injection must be returned to the school by Jan. 8 in order for the child to receive the injection.

On Jan. 11, clinics will be held at Pickens Elementary, Holly Springs, Ambler, Dacusville Elementary, Hagood, Pickens Middle and Pickens High.

On Jan. 12, clinics will be held at East End, McKissick, West End, Forest Acres, Dacusville Middle and Crosswell.

Clinics will be held on Jan. 13 at Liberty Elementary, Simpson Alternative Center, Liberty Middle, Liberty High, Easley High and Gettys.

The final set of clinics will be held on Jan. 14 at Clemson, Central, Edwards, Daniel High, Six Mile and AR Lewis.

The clinics are free and the School District of Pickens County recommends that all students take advantage of this free vaccination.

For more information, or a list of questions and answers about the H1N1 vaccine, visit the district Web site at www.pickens.k12.sc.us.
