Deputies with Pickens County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Recycling Station on Shoals Creek Church Road in Dacusville after a passerby called 911 to report that an inmate working at the Recycling Center had assaulted the attendant and fled on foot. Officers found the attendant had been hit in the back of the head with a baseball bat and locked in a storage room at the rear of the facility.

Within 15 minutes, responding deputies located the subject, Zachary Scott Finley on Griffin Road and, after a short foot pursuit, took the subject into custody, charging him with attempted murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, malicious injury to personal property, and breaking into a motor vehicle. He was also charged with escape by the Pickens County Stockade authorities. Finley was serving a 30 day magistrate court sentence for criminal domestic violence and was due to be released in mid January.

The victim was transported by EMS to Greenville Memorial.
