SPARTANBURG—Despite falling to the North Carolina All Stars – or, “Tar Heels – in the Shrine Bowl, DeAndre McDaniel was able to shine a little in the annual game by leading the S.C. Sandlappers with three receptions for a total of 44 yards.

Hopkins’ best catch of the day netted 27 yards.

Marcus Lattimore of Brynes, South Carolina’s “Mr. Football” for 2009, rushed for 99 yards and scored the Sandlappers only two touchdowns of the day. North Carolina won the game 24-14.

The win by North Carolina ended a two-year winning streak by the Sandlappers.
