Liberty girls roll past Carolina

GREENVILLE — The Liberty Red Devils girls basketball team rolled past Carolina High School Tuesday night 59-23.

The Red Devils actually scored enough points to win in the first half, as they led 28-3 at halftime.

Amber King led the Lady Red Devils with 24 points. Shay King-Dunson added 14. Others scoring for Liberty were Casey King 7, Mackenzie Alexander 4, Andri Cuellar 2, Ashley Dickson 2, Daisy Duncan 2 and Emily Clardy 2.

Liberty improved to 4-14 for the year, but the Lady Red Devils have a 3-4 record in Appalachian AA this year and are still alive in the Skyline AA playoff race.

Friday Liberty plays at Pendleton Friday night, then return home Tuesday night for their home finale against Palmetto.

All former Liberty basketball and volleyball players, wrestlers and cheerleaders are encouraged to attend and be recognized between the girls and boys games.

Tuesday night the Liberty boys team dropped a game against 81-74. The Red Devils led 33-28 at halftime, but the Trojan’s fought back and took the win.

Tyler Winchester led Liberty with 23 points. Jason Teague added 21, Josh Roberts contributed 16 and Matt Smith scored 10. Layke Brown scored 4.

Liberty dropped to 7-13 on the year, 4-4 in Skyline AA play.
