GAFFNEY — Marvin Eugene Nicholson, 85, of 914 9th Street, passed away, Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at the Peachtree Centre.

Born in Pelzer, Mr. Nicholson was the husband of Evelyn Allsep Nicholson of the home and the son of the late William Pack and Ollie Belue Nicholson. He retired as a salesman in textiles and was a member of Buford Street United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Nicholson is survived by a daughter, Nancy Nicholson Ramsey, of Gaffney; a daughter-in-law, Denise Parker Nicholson, of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Bob Humphries and wife, Tammy, of Gaffney, Kristi Humphries Bell and husband, Mike, of Blacksburg, Mandy Nicholson Fulton and husband, Paul, of Easley, and Joey Nicholson of Gaffney; four great-grandchildren, Wesley Humphries of Gaffney, Emily Bell of Blacksburg, Mara Grace Bell of Blacksburg, and Caroline Fulton of Easley; and three brothers, Harold, Joe, and Jack Nicholson, all of Easley.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Nicholson was preceded in death by a son, Mike Nicholson, and a sister, Evelyn (Shorty) Nicholson Watson.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Joseph James and the Rev. Paul Fulton officiating. Interment was at Oakland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Buford Street United Methodist Church, 120 E. Buford Street, Gaffney, SC 29340, or to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1612 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, SC 29340.
