PICKENS COUNTY – The South Carolina Department of Trasnpsortation (SCDOT) reported no significant snow or ice accumulations in Pickens County as of noon Friday.

All roads in the county were listed simply as “wet” on the department’s web page, www.scdot.org.

As of noon Friday, Dec. 18, SCDOT field operations have deployed the following:

99 Maintenance employees actively involved in road operations

132 Tons of Salt (cumulative total)

26 Tons of Sand (cumulative total)

8,558 Gallons of Salt Brine and CaCl used (cumulative total)

43 Equipment In-Use (snow plows, salt spreaders, sprayers and graders)

There is a mixture of rain, sleet, and snow falling in Greenville and Spartanburg Counties. There was a little accumulation on US 25 and US 276 near the North Carolina border. Bridges are being salted and conditions monitored. Temperatures are between 34 and 38 degrees. Anti-icing materials have been placed in counties including Anderson, York and Cherokee in anticipation of frozen precipitation occurring later tonight.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has activated its online page for winter weather conditions. Go to www.scdot.org and click on “Winter Road Conditions.”

This page is activated at times when snow and ice conditions affect South Carolina highways. The reports are updated around the clock by SCDOT personnel in each district several times a day as conditions warrant.

On the map shown, click the area of the state you are interested in, and a list of roads and conditions in that area will appear. Conditions are listed for freeways and state primary highways, which are first to be cleared during inclement winter weather.

Keep posted to www.theeasleyprogress.com for updates.
