PICKENS COUNTY The School District of Pickens County has again earned the highest recognition available in governmental accounting and financial reporting for its annual financial report. The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the Year Ended June 30, 2008 (CAFR) has earned awards of excellence from two national organizations.

By South Carolina law, each school district must undergo an annual external audit. The School District of Pickens County takes the directive one step further by preparing a comprehensive annual financial report, also known as a CAFR.

PICKENS COUNTY -- For the fifth consecutive year, the district earned the “Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting” from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The district also earned the “Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting” from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) for the third consecutive year.

“The board of trustees and administration congratulate Missy Campbell and the Financial Services staff on these outstanding achievements,” said superintendent Dr. Henry Hunt. “Our community can be assured that the School District of Pickens County has strong financial leadership and quality staff members who pursue excellence in providing transparency and full financial disclosure.”
