EASLEY — St. Matthias Lutheran Church will host a candlelight concert of Christmas Music, 7 p.m., Nov. 29. The public is invited.

The free concert will take place in the church sanctuary at 501 Powdersville Road in Easley. Countertenor Brandon Williams will be the featured soloist performing a wide-ranging program of Christmas music.

Williams, a native of Summerville, is a vocal performance major at Lander University in Greenwood. He is a soloist and music associate at Greenwood’s First Presbyterian Church. Steve Driskill, interim organist and choir director at St. Matthias will be the accompanist.

The 7 p.m. concert will include music from the classical repertory of Vivaldi, Handel, and Mozart as well as spirituals arranged by Mark Hayes and Moses Hogan along with other pieces closely connected to the season. A countertenor is defined as a male voice in the alto range. Williams’ performances are a special treat, since his musical range is even greater, easily approaching the much higher range of the soprano voice.
