EASLEY—Sitting at the base of Table Rock and the Blue Ridge Mountains is the Victoria Valley Vineyards where several Easley residents have found plenty of success.
Owners Les and Vicki Jayne moved to Easley in 1986 from the Niagara region of southern Ontario, but it was not until the spring of 2000 that all six members of the Jayne family planted the first vine at Victoria Valley.
The Victoria Valley Vineyard is truly a family affair.
“Everything we do here is done as a family. In fact, the name ‘Victoria’ was the name of my grandmother,” said Brittany Jayne, Manager of the Winery.
Even the family dog has gotten in on the action. Bentley, the vineyard dog, has a wine named after him. A Chardonnay called, Bentley’s Best.
The Victoria Valley Vineyards sits on 47 acres, 22 of which are under vine and grow only French grapes.
During the winter months, the vines are dormant but some winter pruning takes place in both December and January. Spring is the growing season and the vines are harvested in September.
The vineyard is unique in that everything is grown and produced in-house. It is both a vineyard and a winery, and all work is done by hand including grape picking.
“We do everything from the planting and pruning of the vines to the processing, and all of this is done by hand,” said Jayne.
