GREENVILLE — A Dacusville man died early Friday morning when he lost control of his pickup truck after crossing a set of train tracks, according to highway officials.
William Stanley “Will” Childress II, 25, of 177 Brothers Road, was driving a 2006 Ford pickup when it flipped and hit a chain link fence, said Greenville County Deputy Coroner Tom Selfridge.
The accident happened around 3:10 a.m. on Edward Road, he said.
After loosing control crossing the railroad tracks, the truck went off the road and struck the fence, said Lance Cpl. Kathy Hiles with the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Childress was not wearing a seatbelt, she said.
He died at the scene from blunt force trauma to the head, according to Selfridge.
Family and friends laid Childress to rest Monday at Dacusville United Methodist Church.
They said he will be remembered for his “sense of humor and heart of gold.”
