New Sports Facilities Help Ease the Transition for Easley High
by Joe Toppe
Staff Writer

EASLEY—On Friday August 17, The Easley football team will kick of its new season in an opener against Pickens, but it will be a game on the 24th against Daniel that Easley will get their first opportunity to showcase their new field, school, and facilities.

“The new school is phenomenal. We are getting a state-of-the-art weight room that is unmatched in the state. Our locker rooms will now feature 154 lockers as oppose to 80 at the old school. The entire facility will give us everything we need to be successful,” said head football coach Chad Smith.

The new weight room is 3,000 square ft and will hold custom made weight training equipment that will be moved into the new facility at the first of August.

“When you come in here and you look at the new facilities, it is something that has been long overdue for our athletic programs. When you look at successful programs in the state of South Carolina, it always starts with the strength and conditioning programs, and we are very fortunate in that we are able to now incorporate that into the school curriculum on a day-to-day basis in our Physical Education classes as well as our athletic programs,” said Athletic Director Chris Carter.

The Athletic Director and the entire coaching staff are dedicated to applying these new tools to not only build a better athletic program, but to build better students as well.

“The school is the pulse of our community. I’ve been around long enough to know that when you have a good football team, it makes the environment at your school better, it improves the pride in your town, and it makes your kids better,” said Carter. “It’s all because of Coach Smith and the commitment made by his coaches and the kids in our program. We are looking forward to a great fall.”
