Pickens man arrested for indecent exposure.
by Billy Cannada
Staff Writer

PICKENS COUNTY—Police have apprehended a Pickens man after several instances of alleged indecent exposure in the past few months.

The arrest stemmed from a Pickens County Sheriff’s Office investigation that began in July.

Douglas Dean Evans, 41, of 215 McDaniel Avenue Pickens was eventually apprehended on Thursday, Nov. 8 on three counts of indecent exposure.

According to a release for the sheriff’s office, Evans had been seen dressed inappropriately inside and around the Easley and Liberty Post Offices by both postal service employees and post office customers.

Witnesses reported seeing Evans wearing only ladies lingerie, high heel shoes and a black wig. The “outfits” were reported to be sheer see-through, revealing Evans’ private areas.

The victims in these incidents, all women, told police they were shocked and appalled by Evans’ appearance.

Each of them encountered Evans while they were alone, and expressed to authorities fear as a result of the encounter. Police say these witnesses provided the crucial information, which led to Evans’ arrest.

The investigation, which culminated in the arrest of Evans, was initiated by sheriff’s deputies and U.S. Postal Inspectors after receiving information from the Liberty and Easley Police departments on Oct. 31.

Several incidents had occurred between July and October.

Oconee County - The Oconee Humane Society will be hosting two mega adoption events at area PetSmarts on Saturday, June 22. One will be at the Seneca PetSmart in the Applewood Shopping Center on Highway 123 from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. It will be sponsored by the Seneca Foothills Elks Lodge #2822. The other with be held at the Easley PetSmart next to Walmart on Highway 123 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Cats and dogs and puppies and kittens will be available at both locations. Cats and kittens will be inside the stores while dogs and puppies will be outside (weather permitting). All animals are microchipped, spayed or neutered, dewormed and will have age appropriate vaccinations. Dogs over 6 months of age are heartworm tested negative, and cats are tested feline leukemia negative. All animals are also eligible for a free one-month veterinary insurance coverage.

Additionally, PetSmart offers each adopter a free “goody bag” which includes coupons valued at $200.

Cash or check payments for adoption fees can be made at either store, and the Seneca location can also accept credit cards.

Oconee Humane Society always has cats and kittens available in the Seneca PetSmart’s adoption room, so if you’re not in the market for a new cat now, keep these cats in mind when you are ready to adopt. Both dogs and cats are always available at the shelter on Sandifer Blvd., and all of these animals are listed on the OHS website.

If you can’t adopt but would like to help, donations would be appreciated. Ask about the foster program and other volunteer opportunities at the shelter or special events. For additional information, please visit oconeehumane.org
