PICKENS COUNTY – Rookie detention officer Kevin Crowe of the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office is finally pursuing a career in law enforcement.

“As a kid, everyone wants to be a fireman or a police officer, and I always wanted to as well,” Crowe said. “For whatever reason, I didn’t pursue it until recently, but there is no time like the present to start over.”

Crowe is a lifelong resident of Pickens County and a 1997 graduate of Easley High School.

Following high school, Crowe became a business owner in Easley where he remained until 2012 when he decided to join the ranks of the men and women at the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.

“I always had a respect for law enforcement and I finally had the opportunity to join the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office,” Crowe said. “I put in my application, met with Capt. Galloway, and he hired me.”

Crowe will attend the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in March of 2013 and is expected to graduate later this year.

“I am looking forward to graduating from the academy, being on the road, and being able to protect the community,” Crowe said. “I want to help keep things safe in Pickens County. That is where my kids, my wife, and my friends are. It is my home.”

According to Crowe, his future in law enforcement is focused on improvement rather than promotion.

“I learned a long time ago that I want to get better each day whether that leads to a captain or a detective,” Crowe said. “Wherever the road goes, I just want to keep getting better at what I do.”

Crowe intends on earning a college degree from Tri-County Technical College.

“To start with, I am looking to get a two–year degree in criminal justice from Tri-County Technical College, but I will move on to the four-year degree as well and see where that goes,” Crowe said. “I can move up within the police department, and more education is always better. The more you know, the more you can do.”

Crowe is a married father of three.
