Handgun safety and proficiency class starts Saturday

Tri-County Technical College will offer a Handgun Safety and Proficiency course March 2 to allow qualifying participants to apply for a South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit. Students will be provided with the basic knowledge and skills for the safe and proper use of a handgun.

The course will include eight hours of classroom instruction and additional time on the firing range. The classroom portion of the class will be held at the Tri-County Technical College Anderson Campus, located at 511 Michelin Blvd Saturday, March 2, from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. The firing range location and times will be announced during class.

Topics will include weapons components and handgun knowledge, handgun safety and handling, cleaning and storage of weapons, basic shooting techniques, range safety and South Carolina law.

The cost is $99 per person or for individuals who bring a friend; the cost is discounted to $75 per person (one friend per person.). For more information, call (864) 646-1700.
