East Main Street in 1914
This picture postcard is dated 1914. On the left is the old Lyric Movie Theater, followed by the stairway to Dr. J.P. Jewell’s office. Next is the Parrish Brothers store which specialized in clothing, shoes and hats. The small frame building includes Oree’s barber shop and advertises hot and cold baths. The large building with the wide porch is the Easley Hotel, which was on the corner of Sardine (Pendleton) and Main St. Across the street is the drug store, a bank, and the department store of Edwin Bolt Sr.

The Pickens County YMCA celebrated their 50th birthday this past Saturday with water blow-ups, hot dogs, balloons, music and games for all ages. Kids of all ages came out to help celebrate the milestone for the local YMCA. Above, children enjoyed the water rides throughout the day.
