Meals on Wheels wins in annual Food Fight Bowl

PICKENS — The seventh annual Food Fight Bowl might be over, but the fundraising efforts between local area high schools won’t be over until mid-September.Easley and Pickens, the two traditional participants in the Meals on Wheels fundraising event, are joined this year by Daniel and Liberty high schools.“We serve all of Pickens County, not just Pickens and Easley,” said Meta Bowers, director of Pickens County Meals on Wheels. “It’s been great to have these schools jump in to be a part of this.”Easley might have defeated Pickens 52-7 for the actual bowl game this year, but as far as the fundraising campaign goes, Pickens has dominated for six of the past seven years.
