Hopkins joined the team at the conclusion of the Tigers’ football season.
On Friday, Clemson head coach Brad Brownell said Clemson WR DeAndre Hopkins would not play against Miami.
"He has a long way to go," said Brownell. "There is a big difference between playing at Daniel High School and playing at Clemson."
Hopkins missed practice on Friday due to a family issue. Brownell said Hopkins will play when he is productive in practice.
Clemson defeated Miami 79-72 to improve to 11-4, 1-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Jarai Grant led the Tigers with Demontez Stitt scored 17 as Brownell picked up his first conference win as the Tigers head coach.
Clemson next plays Georgia Tech at home Tuesday night. The is no word yet on what Hopkins’ status will be for that game.
