Teacher Appreciation night set at Liberty host Chesnee tonight

LIBERTY—Tonight Liberty will host Chesnee in basketball games. The night has been named, “Teacher Appreciation Night.”

The Red Devil boys lost to Carolina 70-56 Wednesday night, breaking a two-game winning streak.

Liberty defeated Crescent Tuesday nigh 75-57, sweeping the two-game series with the Tigers. Tyler Winchester led Liberty with 28 points. Josh Roberts added 20 and Jason Teague scored 13. Also scoring were Layke Brown 9, Matt Smith 4 and Joseph Miles 1

The Red Devils are 6-14 on the season but are 3-2 in Skyline AA play. A victory tonight over Chesnee will give Liberty a season sweep of the Tigers, assuring Liberty of a spot in the state playoffs.

The Liberty girls team had back-to-back wins this week over Chesnee and Carolina. Wednesday night Liberty defeated Carolina 48-20. The Lady Red Devils led the entire game. Amber King led Liberty with 22 points and five steals. Casey King had 4 points, 5 assists and 9 rebounds

Tuesday night Liberty defeated Crescent 35-19. Amber King led the Red Devils with 18 points. Also scoring were Shay King-Dunson 6, Audri Cuellar 5, Casey King 2, Mackenzie Alexander 2 and Emily Clardy 2.

Liberty is 3-14 for the year, but 2-3 in conference play and very much in the playoff race. Cresnee defeated Liberty 49-14 Jan. 19 the first time the two teams met.
