Do you remember the Dick Clark Show or the Ed Sullivan Show? If so, then you probably remember the amazing performer, Chubby Checker that took America by storm in 1960. Celebrating 50 years of the Twist, Chubby Checker will be on stage at this year’s Blue Ridge Fest on May 13th to lead YOU in the Twist. Known for his versatility and natural feel for music and rhythm, Chubby will be appearing with his band, The Wild Cats, for a great night of entertainment.

Also appearing at Friday night’s Beach Night/Cruise In will be returning favorites, Jim Quick and Coastline and The Flashbacks. The music begins Friday night at 6 p.m. This year, come early and register for the TWIST Contest that begins at 5 p.m. One talented dancer will walk away with $500. All this in addition to the Largest Cruise-In in the Upstate promises an unforgettable Friday Night.

Saturday’s Charity Motorcycle Ride will start at the Pickens equipment facility at 9 a.m. Following a 100-mile ride, bikers will return to the co-op for Biker Bingo and prizes.

There are also prize drawings for $5000 Cash and a 2011 Polaris Ranger XP 800 UTV and trailer. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at any of our Blue Ridge Electric or Blue Ridge Security offices, by phone at 800-240-3400 or online at www.blueridgefest.com.

Blue Ridge employees host Blue Ridge Fest each year to raise money for a number of local charities. This year the proceeds will be distributed to Anderson Free Clinic, Anderson Interfaith Ministries, Golden Corner Food Bank, Haven of Rest Ministries, Helping Hands of Clemson, Hidden Treasure Christian School, Oconee Presbyterian Service Fund, Pickens County Meals on Wheels, Rosa Clark Medical Clinic Association, Sabrina House Children’s Charity, Samaritan Health Clinic of Pickens County, SHARE and United Christian Ministries. To date, more than $1.2 million has been given to organizations that provide assistance to individuals and families in the co-op service area.

Blue Ridge Fest would not be successful without those who support it through their attendance and through their donations. We thank the 100 corporate sponsors for their valuable support and contributions to this great event.
