EASLEY – The Baptist Easley Hospital Foundation invites all Easley area elementary school children to bring their bicycles and lace up their sneakers to help make a difference at Baptist Easley Hospital.

The first Baptist Easley Hospital Foundation Walk/Bike-A-Thon, which begins tomorrow at 9 a.m. at Baptist Easley Hospital, will feature a riding course for participants, and a walking course around the hospital perimeter. Local attractions will include fire trucks, ambulances, police cars and entertainment will include inflatable bouncers. Lunch will conclude the event at 11:30 a.m. Complete details about the event will be distributed to all elementary school children in their homeroom classes the first week of school.

“We are excited about hosting a special event just for elementary school children from Crosswell, Dacusville, East End, Forest Acres, McKissick and West End elementary schools,” said Foundation Chairman Chris Robinson. “This is guaranteed to be a fun and healthy way to spend a Saturday morning with classmates, friends and other children walking or riding to support our Baptist Easley Hospital. This event coincides with the Foundation’s recent donation of bicycle helmets for all 2nd graders at these six elementary schools.”

“Children at the six elementary schools will be invited to seek sponsors for the miles they will be walking or biking,” said Foundation Director Mark Eisengrein. These contributions will support the Foundation’s campaign to raise funds for a 64-Slice CT Scanner for Baptist Easley Hospital.

All participants will be rewarded with a backpack and sunglasses for their participation. Children can earn special prizes as they generate additional pledges, including an event T-shirt, bicycle helmet, or a bicycle. “This is one event where kids can have fun exercising while making a difference at our hospital,” said Eisengrein.

“The Foundation would like to thank Carolina Cardiology of Easley and Pasui Family and Cosmetic Dentistry for lending their generous support to this event,” said Robinson. “We believe that this event will become an annual event where all children in Easley can ride their bikes or walk to raise pledges for our hospital.”
