Staff Writer

EASLEY - Downtown businesses are joining with the city to

kick off the 2007 holiday season with lights, specials and door

prizes.

The second annual Grand Illumination is set for 2-7 p.m. on

Saturday, Dec. 1.

Visitors to the event will be greeted by carolers and the

warmth of holiday lights and merchant good cheer.

Visitors can choose to shop or dine downtown while the

businesses offer holiday special prices and door prizes.

Entertainment abounds at the event, which will feature

comedic magician Ric Singleton and musical duo Southern Faith.

Local gymnastics and dance groups will perform throughout

the day and a there will be a surprise musical guest.

Fair food vendors will dot the street alongside face painters

and children's activities.

Storefronts aren't the only downtown feature to be decorated

- street lamps will don the holiday spirit too. The Christmas

tree lighting ceremony is at 6:30 p.m. in front of City Hall.

Children of all ages are invited to share their secret

Christmas wishes to Santa while loved ones take photos.

Sutherland Hill Farms Photography will also be on hand taking

candid shots during the event, so stay on your toes.

Easley police officers are providing security for the event and

patio heaters will be placed throughout downtown for comfort.
