PICKENS - “Buon Appetito.”

Families who are benefiting from Prevent Child Abuse Pickens County will able to enjoy a special Italian Christmas dinner tonight, Thursday, at Pickens Presbyterian Church.

“It’s just something we wanted to do to give back to the community,” said Joseph Raffa. He and his wife Carol moved to Easley from New York a few years ago, and when they settled in the Upstate, decided to start a home-based authentic-Italian catering business.

Joseph Raffa owns his own construction business, and originally the couple planned to have a corporate dinner for their customers. But Joseph Raffa said he would rather provide a meal to someone who would be more in need.

Cortni Nations, director of Prevent Child Abuse referred to Raffa as a “man with a big heart,” adding that the event will be very special for the families. “We just try to do something nice, but a lot of these folks don’t get invited to something like this,” she said.

The dinner will consist of Italian bread, salad, Italian pastries and other Italian food, served by Easley-based Carol’s Italian Catering.

“It makes everybody’s day. I’m glad that we can offer something like this,” Nations said.

The Easley Junior Women’s Club will be coordinating the event, which will include a visit from Santa and door prizes. Prevent Child Abuse will also recognize some of its programs outstanding participants, Nations said.
