ANDERSON COUNTYAnderson District One trustee Joe Pack has been recognized for his dedication to what many call “the best district in the state.”
“We have a person among us who’s rather unique,” said Superintendent Wayne Fowler. “When you talk about public service, this person has gone beyond the call of duty ? 40 years on the Anderson District One board of trustees.”
Pack, who represents Area 6, also represents the board as a member of the alternative school board and serves on the career center board.
“I have calculated that you have been to more than 800 meetings and most of them don’t go too fast, so you’ve spent a lot of time (on education),” Fowler said.
Board Chairman Fred Alexander joined Fowler in paying tribute to Pack.
Pack’s achievement has been recognized by the South Carolina School Boards Association.
Alexander presented Pack with a pin and a certificate from the SCSBA.
Pack served as president of that organization as well, Fowler said.
“He’s been chairman of the board, he’s presently secretary of the board, he’s been president of the SCSBA, he’s been director, he’s been about everything there is at the state and district level,” Fowler said.
Pack thanked the board for the recognition.
