PICKENS - Lula Mae Gibson Chapman, 92, of Rice Road, wife of Rev. Lake Chapman, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.

Born in Oconee County, Mrs. Chapman was a daughter of the late H.P. and Ruth Lindsey Gibson. Mrs. Chapman was the first CNA hired at Laurel Hill Nursing Home. She retired from there and later was also a resident. She was the oldest member of Amazing Grace Fellowship.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Gloria Littleton and her husband, James; Gail Owens and her husband, Ike; three grandsons, Matthew Littleton and his wife, Traci; Titus Owens; and Isaac Owens; one granddaughter, Kathy Littleton; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lucy Amos, Dot Adams, Betty Chapman, and Myremn Durham; and one brother, Ray Gibson. Mrs. Chapman was predeceased by three brothers, Milton, Henry and Clyde Gibson. Her life was blessed with many nieces, nephews, and many, many good friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Amazing Grace Fellowship with the Rev. Roland Bearden, the Rev. H.C. Couch, Matthew Littleton and Isaac Owens officiating. Burial followed in Westview Cemetery, Easley.

The body was at Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown where the family received friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, and was placed in the church at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The family was at the home of Gail and Ike Owens, 230 Pearl St., Pickens, S.C. 29671.
