EASLEY - Police have once again charged the owner of the Pendleton Street Subway, this time on two separate counts of assault in connection to sex crimes.

Mohammad Ahmad M. Atieh, 47, of 313 Parkway Drive, Easley, is accused of assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct in the second degree and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, according to warrants.

In one case, Atieh is alleged to have willfully and unlawfully touched the victim "in intimate areas on several occasions ... for several months" in early 2000, the warrant said.

The victim was an employee at the time of the incidents and there is a significant age difference between Atieh and the victim, the warrant said.

In the other incident, Atieh is accused of forcibly pushing the victim against a wall while fondling her breasts, the warrant said.

These two cases make a total of three similar charges against Atieh.

Two weeks ago, a 16-year-old employee told police that during her week-and-a-half of employment at the restaurant, Atieh put his hand down her shirt and bra, and would touch her "butt" and "private part."

She also said that Atieh had grabbed her hips, massaged her legs and following her into the freezer "to avoid being seen."

Atieh was arrested on a charge of attempting to commit criminal sexual conduct in the second degree in that case. He posted the $25,000 bond immediately and was released, officials said.

According to the report, that victim had worked at the Subway for only a week and a half but reported several incidents of "forcible fondling ... during her employment," the report said.

Atieh was arrested Monday and booked in at the Law Enforcement Center by Easley Police, said Maj. Tim Tollison.

The judge set his bond at $40,000 cash or surety, Tollison said, all of which must have been paid in order to be released.

Atieh was transferred to the Pickens County Detention Center Tuesday morning, Tollison said.
