PICKENS COUNTY - Pickens County Sheriff C. David Stone announced today that over the past year, 94 illegal immigrants have been booked into the county detention center.

Of those, federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials ordered 37 to be held for deportation hearings and 57 were released without holds, according to a release by Sheriff C. David Stone Monday.

Jail Administrator Capt. Phil Sargent said no one is automatically deported and that ICE has certain criteria by which to request an inmate be held for deportation.
