PICKENS - Before the Blue Flame and the Green Wave battle it out on the field, their fans will battle it out in Legacy Square.
The First Annual Meals on Wheels Food Fight Bowl and Tail Gate Party fundraiser will take place from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. before the Pickens-Easley game on Friday, Sept. 12.
Fans can enjoy food and music from the Whiskey Rose band and a live DJ.
At 6 p.m. the two high schools face off in the "Ultimate Food Fight" talent competition.
Supporters can vote by placing money in buckets around the square, will all proceeds going to Pickens County Meals on Wheels.
The high school that collects the most votes will be presented with a special "Ultimate Food Fight" trophy during halftime.
The marching bands from each school will also join together to entertain the fans during the fundraiser.
At 7 p.m., the marching bands and cheerleaders from each school will lead a procession to the Pickens High School stadium to get fans pumped up for the game, which has been moved back to 8 p.m.
The winning football team will receive the "Food Fight Bowl" trophy at game's end and gets to keep it until the next Pickens-Easley game.
PC MOW officials hope the fundraiser starts out strong and continues to grow with each year.
"We hope it will become the tailgate party for the Pickens-Easley game each year," said Amy Wilson, project assistant.
Executive Director Meg Benko agreed, adding that there is no set goal for this year's event.
"We're just laying the groundwork this year," she said. "The schools are behind it, the community seems really excited about it. We hope it's successful."
