EASLEY - Fire and police officials are investigating the blaze that nearly destroyed a home on Duke Street Friday.

At 8:12 p.m., Easley Fire Department personnel responded to the scene of the fire and found no one at home, said Capt. John Willis.

"There were no reported injuries as a result of the fire," Willis said.

In 20 minutes, firefighters had the blaze under control and workers spent another hour on salvage and overhaul, he said.

The homeowner was later found and offered assistance by the Upstate Chapter of the Red Cross, Willis said.

Two pumper trucks and a service unit responded to the scene, he said.

"The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time by the Easley Fire Department Cause and Origin Team and the Easley Police Department," Willis said.
