EASLEY - A 23-year-old Liberty man was beaten and stabbed earlier this month after an argument with an acquaintance became violent, Easley Police Department Major Tim Tollison said.

Jefferson Alan Burch, or 705 Stewart Gin Road, was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital with stab wounds to his chest following the Oct. 7 incident, he said.

Arrest warrants are on file with the agency for Alvin Dark, 18, of 108 Linwood Street, in Easley, Tollison said.

"Warrants have been issued (for Burch) but they've not been served," he said.

According to police incident reports, Burch and Dark were at the Linwood Street residence when an argument began over finances and parties being held at the home.

Witnesses stated that the two men started a physical altercation outside the house when Dark charged toward Burch, knocking over one witness, the report said.

During the fight, Burch managed to climb on top of Dark, and was sitting on his chest when the suspect called for his friends to help remove the victim, at which time Burch was kicked and beaten multiple times, the report said.

Sometime during the fight, Burch received a stab wound to the left side of his chest, the report said.

Police officers responding to the scene found Burch bleeding and sitting in a bathtub inside the home, and notified emergency medical services, the report said.

A lock-blade knife was located in the area of the fight and taken into evidence by law enforcement, the report said.

Tollison said he is not aware of the victim's condition at this time.
